Me and my SO absolutely loved this place. We like to submerge ourselves in the heart of a city / culture, and explore what the city is all about, and avoid the tourists traps. This was perfect. We did some research before we came, biked there, and met some wonderful locals who gave us a few pointers on Public Sauna Etiquette. The art work on the docks were an urban explorers dream. It was all so relaxing, especially dipping into the ocean in between sauna stints.
Be warned that this is co-ed, and everyone saunas without clothes, but that's optional. The complete experience included being free and naked. Don't worry, it's in a private space, no one will walk by randomly or by accident, because it's out of the way of everything.

Best sauna in Helsinki! Remember to take water and towel with you. Sauna is maintained by visitors, so you can help out by chopping wood or bringing fresh water for throwing löyly.

The most public of public saunas. Enjoy the löyly and a refreshing dip in the sea for free. Bring a towel (and some fresh water if possible, no sea water on the stove!) and you're good to go.

This is one of my favorite places in the world. The community of people that use and maintain the sauna are very open and hospitable. The heat and steam = löyly is quite good

The only free public sauna in Helsinki. A wonderful experience for the first time in my life. I believe that horrible winter can not harm Finnish people because they found a nice relaxing idea by using the sauna; did you know that there are many saunas than the number of people in Finland? It's true! Go and relax for free with the birthday suite!
