Day 01, Fly Addis Ababa/Bahir Dar

Early morning flight to Bahirdar. After flaying an hour you will arrive at Bahirdar Airport and transfer to camping area, boat excursion over Lake Tana to the Zeghie peninsula to visit the two beautifully painted churches that are found hidden in the small forest: Azoa Mariam and Ura Kidane Miheret, on the way you will have the chance to over view Kibran Gebriel and Entos Monastery and the outlet of the Blue Nile river. P. M window shopping and Bahirdar market with some city Tour o/n hotel.


Day 02, Bahir Dar

Morning drive 70KM round trip to visit Tississat named after the water falls of the Blue Nile River (the life blood for the Sudanese and Egyptians). Be informed that clients will walk about an hour to arrive near to the water falls on Blue Nile. So they are expected to wear appropriate clothes that match with hot weather and good shoes. P. M city Tour of Bahirdar including a drive to the former residence of Haile Selassie I with the panoramic view point over the town of Bahirdar , the Blue Nile and lake Tana o/n hotel.


Day 03, Drive Bahir Dar/ Gonder

Morning drive to Gondar and transfer to hotel. Afternoon you will be taken to visit the castle compound where you can see the medieval castle of king Fasilidas, King Yohannes, King Eyasu, King Dawit, King Bakafa and Queen Mentewab further visit of the churches of Debre Birhan Selassie with awesome wall paintings and the bath of King Fasilidas o/n Hotel.


Day 04, Fly Gonder/Lalibela

Morning flight to Lalibela, the world heritage city. After 45 minutes flight, you will arrive at Shimshaha (Airport, transfer to hotel and start to visit the 1st group churches which are included Bieta Medhanialem (Chapel of Holy Savior) which is the biggest and Bieta Mariam (Chapel of Mary): three aisled with mural paintings and a covered pillar containing inscriptions about the end of the world according to the gadl (act )of saintly king. Further visit of Bieta Denagel (Chapel of the Virgins), Bieta Meskel (Chapel of the cross) and finally, the “double – church” of Debre Sina and Bieta Golghotha (women are not allowed in the latter since it’s where the remains of King Lalibela are and also because it contains the tabernacle of the Holy Trinity).

PM Visit of the second group of rock-hewn churches that are namely: Bieta Gabriel and Raphael, Bieta Merquorios, Bieta Emmanuel with unprecedented Axumite style and the Bieta Abaa Libanos (said to have been built by King Lalibela’s consort Meskal Kebra and visit the Bieta Ghiorghis which is the cruciform chapel of St. George o/n hotel.


Day 05, Lalibela

Early morning you will have optional mule excursion to Asheten Mariam church situated at a very hill top to see the town of lalibela and the surrounding attraction. Return to the hotel for lunch. P. M drive to the charming semi – cave church of Neakutoleab, a church of the early 13th century and bearing the name of its builder. One amazing thing about this church is the year round water that wells from its ceiling that is said to have curative power o/n hotel.

Day 06, Fly Lalibela/Axum

Morning flight to Axum. After 40 minutes flight, you will arrive at Axum Airport, transfer to hotel and start to visit the historical sites of Axum including the St. Mary church (where the Arc of the covenant is said to be kept) and the stele park.
P. M visit the ruins of the former palace of Queen of Sheba (Dungur Palace) the ruins of the former tombs of King Kaleb and his successor King Gebre Meskel. o/n hotel.

Day 07, Drive Axum / Mekele

Morning drive to Mekele. On the way visit Yeha Temple, the first civilization place in Ethiopia before Axum, Debre Damo Monastery, some of the beautiful Tigry rock hewn churches o/n hote.


Day 08, Mekelle- Ahmed Ella
We drive from Mekelle to Hammed Ela. After the small town of Agula; we descend to the Afar Region. You will see too many camel caravans, transporting rock salt from Lake Asalé to the town of Mekelle at many spots on the road. As we penetrate deep down to the region, the temperature becomes hotter and hotter. Lunch at the small town of Berahile (110km from Mekelle) , where entrance tickets will be collected too. Then we Proceed towards Hammed Ela with the accompany of polices and a local guide from Berahile. Overnight – camping (at Afar House) – Ahmed Ella o/n camping.


Day 09, Dallol Depression and Lake Asale
Early morning; excursion to the Danakil depression. On this day; surely, you will be overwhelmed with a strong feeling of admiration, because of the awesome of Dallol. After Dallol; proceed to the traditional salt extraction site from where too many camel caravans are waiting to be loaded rock salts just nearby the Salt Lake of Asalé. Then approach to Lake Asalé. Late afternoon (when temperature cools down), explore the Afar village of Hammed Ela. Overnight – camping (at Afar House) – Ahmed Ela o/n camping.
Day 10, Kursewad- Waydodom
Morning; drive from hammed Ela towards Arte Ale (78km dirty road) via Kursewad. Take some rest (lunch) at Kursewat. At about 3pm, after arranging camels for Arte Ale Mountain at Kursewad, drive to Waydodom and then towards Arta Ale (13km from Waydodom). Overnight – Camping – nearby Ert Ale o/n camping.



Day 11, Ert’ Ale
Early Morning; Trek to Arte Ale with your camping and cooking gears being loaded by Afar Camels (3-4hrs trek). After lunch, explore the extraordinary lava that bounce from its mouth of Erte Ale active volcanic fire. During night time the volcano will be fully seen with its magnificent color of zigzagging fire, produced from huge rocks. Therefore; in the evening, descend from your Camping site to the drama of the volcano. Overnight- camping on the top of the Caldera o/n camping.


Day 12, Afdera
Morning; discover all sites around the Arte Ale area and descend down towards where your cars are camped. There; take your lunch and drive to Lake Afdera. In the Afternoon; visit the Salt Lake of Afdera. It is here where you can see people extracting edible salt in large quantity and transport it on trucks to Addis Ababa. Overnight – camp near Lake Afdera in the best and location o/n camping.

Day 13, Awash National Park
Morning; Drive from Afdera to Awash Sebat. Lunch at Logia and proceed to the town of Awash Sebat overlooking the Yangu di Rassa National Park and Awash River; the only river that waters the desert area of the Afar Region o/n in the best Lodge inside the park.
Day 14, Harar

Morning drive to Harar, passing through the Churcher and Arba Gugu mountains, is splendidly scenic and worth taking. The dominant ethnic groups here are the Oromo, enjoy the Chat plantation on the way. Up on arrival take rest and you will be taken to visit the hyena man o/n hotel.


Day 15, Harar- Dire Dawa

A. M visit the walled city of Harar, “the Jugol wall” visit the beautiful market, the Harari people way of life and all the activities in Harar. Harar is regarded as the the spiritual home of Ethiopian’s large and ancient Muslim community. Late afternoon you will drive to visit another beautiful town DireDawa. Have some city Tour o/n hotel.



Day 16, Dire Dawa- Langano

Drive through the Great East African Rift valley to Langano, one of the best place for recreation. Enjoy the Afar, Kereyu, Oromo, Amhara peoples way of life over viewing the Rift valley lakes of Koka, Zeway, Abijata and Shalla with beautiful and endemic aquatic birds o/n Lodge.


Day 17, Langano- Bale Mountain

Morning drive to Bale Mountain National Park, enjoy the very interesting scenery, Dinsho, the head quarter of the park with the best chance to observe most of the characteristics of fauna and flora of the park, well known as the endemic Mountain Nyala, the Menelik Bush back and the 16 endemic birds o/n hotel.

Day 18, Bale Mountain

Early in the morning leave your hotel for excursion to the Senetie plateau around 4000 meters above sea level covered with afro Alpine plants. Senatie plateau which is the loveliest mountain scenery in Africa that can be viewed from the comfort of your car. The plateau is the highest moorland tract in Africa and is also the home of the endemic Semien Fox( Ethiopian Wolf). Further drive to Mount Tulu Dimtu, the second highest place in the country with altitude of 4377 meter above sea level, Proceed to Harenna forest visit the beautiful endemic birds, drive back to Goba o/n hotel.


Day 19, Bale – Sofomar- Bale

Our day Tour will take us to Sofomar, the largest underground river cave in the country, some 115Km, east of Goba town. The thorny bushes of this lowland is producing a large number of bird species including the endemic Salvador’s Serine, Grasshopper Buzzard, Martial Eagle, Ring necked dove, Brown tailed chat, African, Goshawk Martial, Abyssinian Scimitar Bill, Shining sunbird, drive back to Goba o/n hotel


Day 20, Bale – Addis Ababa

Morning drive to Addis via the Rift Valley over viewing the rift valley lakes of Shala, Abyata and Langano, Zeway and Koka admiring wonderful views, endemic birds, pelicans, flamingoes proceed to Debrezeit for visiting the crater lake, Arrive to Addis Attend the farewell dinner in the best Ethiopian restaurant with live music and Ethiopian delicious meal with free of charge and beside we take your feedback about the trip and it will be the end of the trip.
