Tourism |
Until 1993 Ghana tourism hardly made any contribution to the country's economy, but this year the Ministry of Tourism was founded. This ministry was later changed into the Ministry of Tourism and Diasporan Relations. Since then, the ministry has been trying to improve the economy of Ghana, and with success!
Important tourist attractions that have made Ghana tourism more popular are, among others, the many National Parks, Cape Coast, the Cultural Centre in Kumasi and the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum in Accra.
As a tourist in Ghana, you will not need to worry about speaking the language. The local languages spoken in Ghana include Akan, Ewe, Ga, Dagbani, Nzema and Hausa, but the official language is English. Therefore it will be easy for you to make yourself understood, wherever you will go. |
Culture |
Ghana is a country of 24 million people comprising over 60 ethnic groups. Fifty two major languages and hundreds of dialects are spoken in Ghana, and English, the official language of Ghana, is spoken by many. Like most other African nations Ghana has rich traditional cultures that differ from one ethnic group to the other. |

Climate |
The climate is tropical but relatively mild for the latitude. Climatic differences between various parts of the country are affected by the sun's journey north or south of the equator and the corresponding position of the intertropical convergence zone, the boundary between the moist southwesterly winds and the dry northeasterly winds. Except in the north, there are two rainy seasons, from April through June and from September to November. Squalls occur in the north during March and April, followed by occasional rain until August and September, when the rainfall reaches its peak. Average temperatures range between 21° and 32° C (70–90° F ), with relative humidity between 50% and 80%. Rainfall ranges from 83 to 220 cm (33–87 in) a year. |
