Experience the fishing adventure of a lifetime: visit Chunila Creek, one of Alaska's best salmon rivers. Atlantik Travel can offer clients this outstanding oppertunity of staying in a comfortable fishing lodge, in the midst of the Alaskan wilderness, only a few meters from the river, at a very reasonable price.

Chunilna Creek is a relatively small river, but can boast stable water levels, clear water, and big runs of king and coho salmon, together with good numbers of sockeye, chum and pink salmon. There is also great fishing for char, rainbow trout and grayling. The river is perfect for fly-fishing, but spin fishing is also possible.

The cozy fishing lodge has its own cook who takes care of all meals, leaving guests to concentrate on the fishing. In the evening everybody gathers around the bonfire to swap stories of the days exploits. The lodge's Norwegian fishing guide is on hand to give up to the minute advice on the fishing, and the best places to try. The fishery starts right outside the lodge, where you can find one of the river's best pools, while a wealth of other possibilities is also available if you walk or sail up or down the river. The guide is also there to transport guests along the river in the lodge's jet boat. It is also possible to borrow one of the lodge's pontoon boats to float the river, to be collected by the jet boat later in the day.

The king salmon, which normally weigh between 10-20kg but can be as large as 35kg, first come up the river in mid-June and this fishery continues to 13th July. Around 1st August the feisty coho salmon first appear, and there will also be reasonable numbers of sockeye, pink and the hard fighting chum salmon in the river.

It is a tremendous experience to stay in the heart of the Alaskan wilderness, and in addition to bald eagles, moose and beaver there is a good chance of seeing bears during your stay. As both brown and black bears are present in the district, you will be briefed about how to move safely in bear country by the camp's guide.

Seasons for the various species:

King salmon: 20th June - 13th July
Sockeye salmon: 1st July - 30th August
Coho salmon: 1st August - 15th September
Chum salmon: 1st August - 15th September
