Record low water levels expose the flat rocky beach in Reddendale. (Everett Point) View looking east. There were shore batteries here during the war of 1812 and it engaged a fleet of American invaders on November 11, 1812, the Americans severely damaged the unarmed Simcoe off Amherst island and it was run aground about 200 m. east of this spot, in 9 feet of water. The Royal Artillery's 6 pdr. cannon drove off the American invaders from this point.

Winter wonder land on the Rideau Trail
KP / Rideau trail goes under the 401 highway. This is the original route for the Kingston and Pembrook Railway built in 1884, later the 401 highway was built over it, and the railway closed in 1986 leaving the path way for hikers.
Macdonnell Street @ Park Street
Kingston is popular with scuba divers examining hundreds of ship wrecks. One wreck can be seen from shore here. Visibility has increased from 1 to 2 m. in the 1960's to about 10 m. and more now. The dock is the Portsmouth Olympic Harbour. One diver has reported being able to see his boat 116 ft. 34 m. above him in the St.Lawrence River and even make out clouds above that. Where else in a populated area is that possible, and have it warm too?
